Dr Jochen Grütters, head of the Emscher-Lippe location of the North Westphalia Chamber of Commerce and Industry, spoke positively about the region’s land potential in an interview with Michael Wallkötter, head of the regional editorial office of the Recklinghäuser Zeitung newspaper – highlighting the newPark:

“The “Emscher-Lippe area quadrangle” could indeed become a brand of this region: gate.ruhr in Marl, newPark in Datteln, Freiheit Emscher in Bottrop/Essen and the power plant area in Scholven form this quadrangle. Behind them are potentials on different time axes. You will be surprised how quickly these areas will be marketed when they are ready for construction. We must therefore succeed in making further brownfield sites usable at competitive prices. I see this as a task for the public sector in the interest of society as a whole. Because there is an inseparable connection between prosperity and the economy. Basically, there are too few available sites – and unfortunately many companies that cannot wait for years.”
